Mikhail Minenkov, former mayor of Nevinnomyssk in Stavropol Krai, has become an adviser to Alexander Shuvaev, acting governor of Belgorod Oblast. Minenkov could become chairman of the regional government or mayor of Belgorod, Fonar reported. During his ten years as head of Nevinnomyssk, Minenkov became known primarily for his controversial remarks.

He called Alexey Navalny “a faggot and a freak” and expressed outrage that the politician's death had made it to the top of Yandex's news rankings. Minenkov complained that people were mourning Navalny in a way they had never mourned a child killed in shelling in Belgorod.

He explained how to protect children from “transgender communities” and European “faggotry.”* Incidentally, his own sons left home to study at the ages of 11 and 13, and they had never had a computer.

Minenkov urged “men to work their asses off and women to give birth” so that Nevinnomyssk would not turn into “piss-soaked Marseille” or cities in the United States “with a bunch of junkies in the city center.”

He explained patriotism as “when you owe the Motherland, but the Motherland doesn't owe you anything.”

He advised men to “sneak up on their beloved” to boost the birth rate, which has been a problem in Nevinnomyssk.

When the power went out in Nevinnomyssk, he urged residents to learn patience from people living in Belgorod's border areas.

Minenkov celebrated the presence of cockroaches in a city school, saying they were a sign of a healthy environment.

He shamed residents who had failed to “clear the pedestrian paths,” meaning they had not shoveled the snow, during the winter.

He wished residents a happy St. Tryphon's Day instead of the Western St. Valentine's Day.
